Nsofor To Make Eagles’ Return
Date Posted: 16/07/2013
Out-of-
favour Super Eagles’ striker, Obinna Nsofor is set to return to the Nigeria
set-up for the first time in nearly two years.
Nigeria
play South Africa in the Nelson Mandela Challenge on 14 August in Durban, with
Nsofor expected to be named in Stephen Keshi’s squad.
That
list is expected to be made public this week. A top Nigeria Football Federation,
NFF source revealed that Keshi wants to hand the pacy forward a chance as he
continues to look for the best combination for the problematic Super Eagles’
attack.
“Apart
from the inclusion of Shola Ameobi, another player that would get his chance is
Obinna Nsofor.
“Keshi
wants to see what he brings into the team as the search for balance in the
team’s attack continues.
“Everyone
criticised the team’s attack during the World Cup qualifiers against Kenya and
Namibia, and even during the FIFA Confederations Cup so Keshi wants to see how
these returnees will fit in and make the attack sharper.”
Nsofor’s
recall may not come as a surprise, as Keshi told KickOffNigeria.com after the
Confederations Cup that he is a big admirer of the former Enyimba man, but has
been denied of his services only through injury.
